Ep.104/ What If Your Attachment Style Isn’t What You Thought?
LISTEN HERE
Have you ever taken an attachment style quiz and thought, “Yep, I’m anxious,” or “Definitely avoidant”—only to find yourself acting completely differently once you start dating or enter a relationship?
If so, you’re not alone.
In this week’s episode of Let’s Talk Attachments, I’m diving into a topic I know will resonate with so many of you: When your attachment style might not be what you think it is.
💡Here's a little truth bomb:
Your feelings might point you toward one attachment style…
But your *behaviors—especially under stress—*often tell a different story.
You might feel anxious and long for connection, but when things get really vulnerable, you might shut down, withdraw, or even ghost, which is classic avoidant behavior.
In this episode, I break down why this happens, how attachment styles can shift or present in unexpected ways, and what to look for when you feel confused by your own (or someone else’s) patterns.
I also share a personal story about a connection with someone who said he was anxiously attached—but acted in ways that were very avoidant. It was such a clear example of how we can misidentify ourselves based on feelings alone, while completely overlooking the truth in our actions.
✨ You’ll learn:
-Why anxious and avoidant styles are two sides of the same coin
-How relational stress reveals your true attachment style
-Why actions speak louder than identity labels
-How to better understand your own contradictions and patterns
